Welcome to Primrose Needleworks of New York City

We celebrate the art of stitching with florals, adages, and geometrics.  Please browse through the sampler portfolio, and our original American-style crossword patterns designed  exclusively as needlework art.

Coming Soon . . . "grape expectations" . . . our newest "vintage" design . . .

We originally designed "Sour Grapes Make Fine Whines" as a one-of-a-kind commission for a California winery. The sampler drew chuckles from wine-tasting visitors who wanted one of their own. To answer that need, we've released this special adaption for the stitching market.

The tableau features grapes, wine glasses, an alphabet and the Latin adage, "In Vino Veritas" (In Wine There Is Truth). It is coded in rich "wine country" colors from The Gentle Art and DMC.  Fabric: 32-ct. Lambswool from Wichelt.  The frame is by East Side Mouldings. Stitch count: 183W x 88H

An inspirational stitch with a timeless message:

"272 Words"

A Bicentennial Sampler
Featuring The Full Text of The Gettysburg Address

Our largest design is a special sampler designed in honor of President Lincoln's Bicentennial Year. A set of 50 stars - one for each state ~ forms a border around the 272-word Gettysburg Address. The 20-page chart is coded in Gentle Art threads, with DMC equivalents. Stitched entirely with colors from The Gentle Art, the model is professionally framed by Where Victoria's Angels Stitch of Clifton, NJ.

Size: 349w x 375h
Fabric: 32-ct. Lambswool linen from Wichelt Imports
Thread: The Gentle Art

The evolution of this design was chronicled on a blog beginning in February 2009.  Please visit The Making of An American Sampler for additional photos, updates and bicentennial essays.  "272 Words" was released on November 19, 2009 to commemorate the 146th anniversary of The Gettysburg Address.
